LITERACY VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA
COLLIER COUNTY

This is a non-profit volunteer program tutoring adults one-to-one in basic literacy skills and conversational English. All services are free and confidential. LVA was founded in 1984 and served over 700 students. Today, more than 100 are being actively tutored.

The Family Literacy program includes "Fun With Books", a storytime hour once a week at 3 elementary schools for 4-year old Head Start children.

Funding for LVA is entirely from the private sector. It is an agency of United Way of Collier County and is supported by many community organizations. The Naples Daily News is the principal sponsor.

Volunteers are URGENTLY needed. Tutor training workshops for both Basic Literacy and English as a Second Language are held throughout the year. Call for dates.
