Specific breathing practices can lower blood pressure, slow down the heart rate, relax the body, calm the nervous system. Diaphragmatic breathing decreases the workload of the cardio-vascular system by as much as 50%.
When we are fatigued we yawn in order to resupply the body with oxygen, and we continue to yawn until the oxygen/carbon dioxide balance has been re-established. Every bodily function is dependent on the respiratory process and the oxygen that is supplied.   Our entire well-being depends on, and is influenced by, our breathing.
